In this article we will be taking a deep dive into the major 2024 transits in Aries.

Aries energy is expressed through things like impulsivity, assertiveness, friction, bold courage, abrasiveness, independence, being first, and taking risks. It is the spark of life. Aries is a cardinal fire sign and can be compared to a firework. It starts strong and burns out quickly. On the human body, Aries is the head. Aries is ruled by Mars, the warrior planet. Aries represents the start of new things, children, minors, or the concept of being “underage”. Pay attention to these themes as this transit unfolds.

Look at your personal birth chart to see which house contains the sign Aries. This will tell you the area of life being activated by these transits. If you’d like professional assistance applying these concepts to your personal chart, my consultations are available here.

LONG TERM ARIES TRANSITS

Chiron in Aries

The cometoid Chiron has been transiting Aries since April 18, 2018 and will continue there until April 14, 2027.

The last time Chiron transited Aries was April 1, 1968 to March 28, 1977. This year, Chiron in Aries will be involved in the most notable eclipse in recent history. Chiron represents our most extreme vulnerabilities, wounds, trauma and the ways in which we can overcome or heal them and pass along that knowledge along to others.

Chiron in Aries can represent things like head injuries, headaches or migraines, trauma around the topic of independence or being single, sensitivities related to sovereignty, feeling vulnerable taking risks or being bold, or important learning lessons about immaturity, to name a few.

If you were born with Chiron in Aries, you are now experiencing a Chiron return. This means you are getting another chance to actualize or develop this energy in your life.

North Node in Aries

The North Node has been transiting in Aries since July 17, 2023 and will continue until Jan 11, 2025.

The last time the North Node transited Aries was from Dec 26, 2004 to June 22, 2006. The North Node represents a point where the orbit of the Sun and Moon intersect. It is not a physical celestial body. It contains the energy of an eclipse point. It takes the North Node 18 years to make a complete orbit through the zodiac and takes 18 months to transit through each sign. It also transits in the opposite direction of the planets, first entering a sign at 29º rather than 00º. The North Node symbolizes destiny, acceleration, urgency, overconsumption, feelings of scarcity, amplification, and a path forward.

The North Node in Aries can represent things like letting go of relationships to fulfill your own independence, being highly competitive, being the first to accomplish certain goals in your family, being a young leader, and being a thrill-seeker.

If you were born with the North Node in Aries, you are currently experiencing a nodal return. Nodal returns tend to feel like your life path is progressing towards your destiny. Within the span of a year and a half of the transit, your life direction often gets rearranged to be more in alignment with your fate.

MORE ON MERCURY IN ARIES

On March 09, 2024 Mercury entered Aries where it transits once a year. Mercury will transit Aries until May 15, 2024.

Mercury in Aries can represent a style of communication that is bold, brash, and potentially filled with curse words. In commute, it could look like foolish driving maneuvers, road rage, or violence on public transit. In commerce, it could look like haggling, amateur financial mistakes, or short-lived deals.

Mercury Conjoins the North Node

On March 18, 2024 Mercury will be conjoined to the North Node at 15º Aries, initiating the pre-shadow period of its upcoming retrograde cycle. This means Mercury will later station direct at this degree on April 24, 2024. The energy of this conjunction will color the entire Mercury retrograde period. The North Node will amplify the energy of Mercury retrograde, potentially adding more chaos than usual along with more permanent consequences.

Mercury Conjoins Chiron

In addition, it is important to note that Mercury will conjoin the cometoid Chiron three times. First on March 20 at 18º Aries, then again on April 15 at 19º Aries, and the final conjunction will happen on May 05 at 20º Aries.

The effects of these conjunctions could make us feel vulnerable, extra sensitive, or may even cause literal pain in the body. Some Mercurial body parts include the nervous system and anything connected to the senses that comes in pairs on the body like eyes, ears, nose, hands, lungs, etc. This will also affect Mercurial things like commerce, commuting, and communications. We could come across therapeutic messages, financial recoveries, or solutions related to local travel.

Each subsequent conjunction will likely express itself in similar but different ways, rather than repeating itself exactly. Each one could relate to the same baseline issue. They are also likely to result in valuable lessons for improving these areas of concern.

ARIES SEASON ECLIPSES

The Sun will enter Aries March 19, allowing for more focus or awareness of issues related to all the energy in this sign. Things that may have been happening in the background or behind the scenes could be brought to light. Anything in the planning phase could move to a phase of implementation. This also marks the official start of Aries season and eclipse season. From this point forward, a huge climax is building toward the two upcoming eclipses.

Eclipses occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned and are responsible for the most fated astrological events in history. You can learn more about these pivotal eclipses of history here. During eclipses it is common to experience major endings and beginnings, time warps, news of big events that are out of your control, and irreversible conclusiveness.

A penumbral lunar eclipse occurs March 25 at 05º Libra. During this penumbral lunar eclipse, the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs creating a Full Moon only ten degrees away from the lunar nodes. Although this kind of eclipse is considered less extreme than a total solar eclipse, it still can create life-altering effects, especially for anyone with placements near 05º of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Lunar eclipses are more likely to affect us on an emotional level, creating changes internally rather than externally.

Eclipses happen in pairs, two weeks apart from each other. The week after the first eclipse is when the Sun arrives at the midpoint between them. This midpoint is a sensitive time and can coincide with a powerful turning point. This eclipse cycle midpoint happens on April Fools Day, the same day that Mercury stations retrograde, adding a spicy punch to an already intense event.

A couple more notable dates in between eclipses are when the Sun conjoins the North Node at 15º Aries on April 04 (the same day Venus enters Aries), and when the Moon conjoins both malefic planets, Mars and Saturn, in Pisces on April 06. This could look like a day of intense realization followed by extreme sadness or frustration.

Venus’ ingress into Aries could make things more complicated, as she loses dignity in this sign. It may denote the involvement of a female falling from power in this mess. Venus in Aries is like a female warrior- out of her element, lacking respect, and having to make the best of resources that are normally unsuitable for success.

These trigger points will likely be vital to the story of the total solar eclipse on April 08 exactly conjunct Chiron, which is an extremely rare occurrence. During this total solar eclipse, the Sun, Moon, and Chiron will all be conjoined at 19º Aries only four degrees away from the North Node. Adding to the rare nature of this event, the comet Pons-Brooks will also be present and if you are properly trained to view eclipses, you may be able to see it during totality. Please exercise caution when attempting to view any eclipse, as they can cause blindness if done without proper eye protection. Read more about the Pon-Brooks comet here.

Mars and Saturn, the most challenging planets, officially conjoin at 14º Pisces on April 10. They will be applying to each other throughout the duration of the eclipse, only intensifying the struggle and discontentment of the situation as a whole.

ECLIPSES AND THE ROYAL FAMILY

Historically eclipses relate to royal families. “Kings and queens are born and die during eclipses.” You can read this article exploring eclipses and monarchs here. There have been controversies and speculations building within the British royal family that could start coming to a head as the eclipses unfold. Many astrologers have discussed the potential of King Charles’ death during either of these eclipses, especially after his cancer diagnosis was announced in Feb 2024. The first one on March 25 has an exact aspect to his ascendant, the second one on April 08 occurs close to his midheaven while also aspecting his natal Mars and Pluto in a grand trine. Astrologizing death is a no-no (usually). Considering all the harm the royal family has done to people around the globe for centuries, this is my one exception.

OTHER NOTABLE TRANSITS

Venus Conjoins the North Node

Venus and the North Node conjoin at 15º Aries on April 17, 2024. This could signify one of the peak moments surrounding Venus’ involvement. It is on this same day that a historical outer planet conjunction perfects- Jupiter and Uranus at 21º Taurus. Venus rules the sign of Taurus, so this combination promises extreme intensity. Taurus is an earth sign symbolizing things like land, high value assets, sensory indulgences, and sustenance. Any of these themes could be subject to unexpected growth, radical change, or proliferation. Most notably, earthquakes and volcanoes are highly likely during this time. This rare Jupiter-Uranus conjunction will be exact for five days, from April 17 to April 21. If you have any placements near 21º Taurus, you may feel this personally in your life. You could experience something like a bizarre twist of fate, a financial windfall, or a pivotal boost of support.

The last Jupiter-Uranus conjunction happened on January 4, 2011 at 27º Pisces. The next one will be on March 30, 2038.

Venus Makes Her Way Through Aries

Venus will conjoin Mercury retrograde at 17ºAries on April 18-19 and finally conjoin Chiron at 20º Aries on April 21. It is my hope that Venus’ transit through Aries will bring some type of relief to the situation at hand, but it will not be an easy task for her.

On April 29, both Venus and Mars will be anaretic at 29º of Aries and Pisces, respectively. This could create a double dose of urgency and last minute details needing to be addressed on this day.

MARS AND VENUS IN DIGNITY

Venus and Mars enter the signs of their domicile within 28 hours of each other. Venus will enter Taurus on April 29 and Mars will enter Aries on April 30. Both of these planets will gain dignity, privilege, and honor. Mars in Aries will help give us needed strength, assist in cutting things off, or simply help move things along quicker. Venus in Taurus will help us feel more comfortable, beautiful, and secure.

This will come as a blessing after the chaos of Mercury retrograde and the eclipses; a nice light at the end of the tunnel.
