Elder Millennial Saturn Return

I understand there is a lot of confusion about exactly how to divide up generations. Tracking planetary orbits with astrology makes it more clear. Although some astrologers may use different planets as reference points, I think we mostly agree.

To me, there are basically five kinds of Millennials. If we are using the commonly used Millennial names, they would be: Geriatric, Old, Elder, Young, and Baby. As an astrologer, I consider Millennials as a whole to be the Pluto in Scorpio generation (end of Aug 1984-Nov 1995). However, please note that Pluto briefly dipped into Sagittarius in early 1995 before it retrograded back into Scorpio. As Pluto transited Scorpio, Saturn moved through five signs. I differentiate Millennials based on their Saturn placement. Generally, Millennials either have Saturn in Scorpio (Geriatric), Sagittarius (Old), Capricorn (Elder), Aquarius (Young), or Pisces (Baby).

In western astrology, the planet Saturn was in the sign of Capricorn when the Elder Millennials were born. Due to a slow orbit of about 30 years, Saturn finally returned to Capricorn Dec 19, 2017. This was the beginning of their Saturn Return, which is the astrological maturity milestone into adulthood. Since this began, major crises have occurred that have pressured them into developing more responsibility and wisdom. For each individual, the Saturn Return climax tends to hit around the time when Saturn reaches the exact degree in your birth chart. Saturn's three year transit through Capricorn ends Dec 16, 2020. It just so happens that the grand finale is paired with a global pandemic.

Saturn in Capricorn specifically challenges us to restructure the blueprint of our lives. For some, it could look like throwing out all your previous plans to accommodate for new demands. For others it might be carefully and diligently making progress for a highly demanding endeavor that advances you majorly. It manifests for people differently based on the aspects of their birth chart. For example, I’ve seen people become first-time parents, start a new career, or graduate from grad school.

If you are an Elder Millennial, think about your life since mid Dec 2017. Which parts of your life are changing due to your Saturn Return? In order to get a better idea of this, finding the house in which Saturn is located will tell you more about the areas of life being affected. A concept known as sect, as well as other planetary interactions to Saturn also have an effect on things.

Saturn was in the sign of Aquarius when the Young Millennial generation was born. Their Saturn Return began this year when Saturn Retrograde briefly dipped into Aquarius at the end of March through the first days of July. More on that later.
