Mars in Capricorn 2022 and the Ukraine Invasion

Gladiators fighting with the Mars and Capricorn symbol overlapping

Mars, the planet of pursuit, entered Capricorn on January 24, 2022 and after almost six weeks will leave this sign on March 5.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Mars is exalted in this sign, meaning it is supported by an energy well-suited to its characteristics. Mars in Capricorn is a well-trained warrior fighting against evil- stacked with armor and weapons bravely ready to kick ass and conquer dark forces. With Mars in a Saturn-ruled sign, Mars is able to put energy behind initiatives that require perseverance, long-term strategy, and calculated risk. Mars in Capricorn provides strong motivation to cut off restrictive energies. The competitive nature of Mars is advantageous in this achievement-based environment. In this earth sign, Mars can effectively produce tangible results.

OTHER PLANETS TRANSITING CAPRICORN

Mars joined some other planets when it entered this sign at the end of January 2022. Venus had entered Capricorn last November and subsequently went retrograde at 26º Capricorn in December. Venus was five days away from stationing direct when Mars ingressed. The day after Mars entered Capricorn, Mercury retrograde re-entered this sign from Aquarius. Venus and Mercury were both retrograding in Capricorn at the same time creating a magnified sense of fluctuation. Pluto, the planet of power and control, sat at the last degrees of Capricorn waiting for Mars and Venus to approach at the same speed for their triple conjunction on the first days of March 2022.

PROGRESSION OF THE WAR

The Leo Full Moon on Wednesday Feb 16 coincided with the first exact conjunction of Mars (war) and Venus (peace). It was on this day that the speed of Mars overcame Venus and passed her. This could have symbolized war overcoming peace. In addition, that Leo Full Moon was extra significant because it occurred exactly at the bendings of the nodes, which you can read about here. The Leo Full Moon occurred near the fixed star Regulus, which “gives violence, destructiveness, military honor of short duration, with ultimate failure, imprisonment, violent death, success, high and lofty ideals and strength of spirit, and makes its natives magnanimous, grandly liberal, generous, ambitious, fond of power, desirous of command, high-spirited and independent.” according to the Astrology King.

The days that followed this Full Moon featured Venus and Mars closing in on a conjunction to Pluto, which manifested as Putin trying to gain power and control of Ukraine through war. The triple conjunction is going exact as I write this and although there are threats of nuclear war, Ukraine is doing an excellent job defending its country. Russian soldiers are surrendering (Pluto-agency), tanks have been running out of fuel (Mars-power), and the value of the ruble has fallen below one cent due to sanctions (Venus-money). The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power (Pluto) Plant in Ukraine was also reported to be on fire (Mars).

On March 5, Mars and Venus will ingress into Aquarius within 7 minutes of each other. Due to Venus gaining speed since her retrograde, Venus will pass up Mars within an hour of their Aquarius ingress. This will hopefully signify peace overcoming war.

However, both planets will catch up to the other malefic, Saturn in Aquarius, at the end of March through early April. In this situation, the Saturn conjunction can represent a point in time when we see whether the invasion was a failure or success. This could also manifest as the implementation of new government policies in response to the war or certain authority figures experiencing the consequences or punishment because of the war. Let’s hope nukes have nothing to do with it. Hopefully in Aquarius we can create progress that will last a generation.
